Raymond Sydney Capell

Raymond Sydney Capell

Born: April 23rd, 1944

Passed on: October 2nd, 2017

Raymond (Ray) Sydney Capell, Born Birmingham, England, 23rd April 1944 – Died Courtenay, 2nd October 2017 (52nd Wedding Anniversary). Cherished husband of Leila, and father of Alison, Jamie (Tanja) and Christian (Victoria); grandfather of Amelia, Aurora, Adica and Naomi. Great grandfather of newborn Ezra. Brother of Ian in England. Ray was a family man through and through - everything he did was for his family and he was dearly loved by friends and family alike for his caring and generous personality. He always brought smiles to people’s faces, ever supportive and he never gave up. He was truly the best father and friend with a huge, warm heart. He always put other people first and was ever ready to help. He worked for over 40 years as a designer draughtsman of mechanical engineering, spending 10 years with Sandvik in Germany and was always very highly thought of, being a conscientious, hardworking employee, who was always popular with his colleagues. Apart from his family, he enjoyed working on his home and garden, walking with his 4-legged companion, Murfi, and Lawn Bowling; he also enjoyed watching the Canucks and Whitecaps and loved his lattes. Ray had been an avid fisherman since he was a small child, but had put it on hold for the past 2 years because of home renovations. Ray never wanted to be a bother; always saying he was fine even when he wasn’t. He made it clear that he wanted neither a funeral nor a memorial service. There will be two scattering places for his ashes – one at Pointe Holmes in Comox and one on the Alouette River in Maple Ridge. He will like that. Dates will be announced later and everyone will be welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family is collecting for a memorial bench to be placed at his favourite spot at Pointe Holmes. He loved to sit there and just enjoy the wonderful view. If you'd like to participate - https://www.gofundme.com/bench-for-ray
